Our Mission: Water, Access, and Those Who Served

We believe rivers, marshes, and flats are more than backdrops for a good grip-and-grin. They’re living systems, public treasures, and places of healing. In a world where access is increasingly controlled by those with money and leverage, we stand on the side of public water and shared experience—the same convictions at the heart of Zach’s work in “Public Water and Private Power in Colorado.”

Our mission is to design trips that don’t just extract from these places, but give something back—to the ecosystems that support us and to the communities, especially veterans, who carry invisible weight into the boat.

Sustainability & Conservation

Protecting Our Waters for Future Generations

Fish On Adventuring is committed to ethical, sustainable fly fishing.

Our trips:

  • Follow catch-and-release best practices unless a specific harvest is part of the experience (such as select yellowtail trips in Mexico).

  • Partner with eco-conscious lodges and outfitters whenever possible.

  • Encourage low-impact travel and responsible choices around gear, waste, and local ecosystems.

  • Support conservation organizations working to protect critical fisheries and habitats.

Our initiatives include:

  •  Eco-friendly lodging and guide partnerships

  •  Participation in river clean-ups and habitat restoration

  •  Educating anglers on responsible fishing practices

  •  Giving back through veteran-focused trips and fundraising

You can also support our work with veterans through Veterans Expeditions.

Values

For the Water

We are committed to fisheries that are healthy, wild, and accessible.

That means:

  • Choosing partners who respect local ecosystems and communities

  • Practicing and teaching ethical, low-impact catch-and-release

  • Supporting organizations that defend public access and habitat, especially where private interests threaten shared water

  • Using our platform—on trips, in writing, and in conversation—to highlight the importance of protecting rivers, flats, and coastlines for future generations

We want our guests to leave each trip not just with great memories, but with a deeper understanding of why these places matter and what it takes to keep them alive.

For Those Who Served

We also believe that healing belongs on the water. A core part of our work is partnering with and supporting veteran-focused organizations, including Veterans Expeditions, to provide trips that create community, purpose, and space to breathe. On these journeys, the goal extends far beyond fish counts:

  • Time in wild places to reconnect with self, land, and others

  • Shared challenge and camaraderie in a setting that feels safe, not clinical

  • Space for stories, silence, and whatever each person needs that day

A portion of our energy, time, and resources goes toward hosting and supporting veteran trips, fundraising, and using our network to widen access for those who might not otherwise step onto a skiff, into a drift boat, or along a high-country trail.

How Your Trip Helps

When you book with Fish On Adventuring, you’re not just signing up for a great fishing trip. You’re helping:

  • Keep pressure and attention on public access and responsible use

  • Support local guides and communities who care for these waters year-round

  • Expand opportunities for veterans to experience the healing power of wild places

We’re here to create life-changing experiences—for our guests, for those who served, and for the waters that hold all of us.

"My first trip with Zach was to San Pedro Belize.

We were a group of eight, each from a different place, but all sharing a love of fishing.

Zach is a kind soul with the heart of a teacher, patient and passionate.

Accommodations were fantastic and spacious, and offered contrast to the rustic charm of San Pedro.

The fishing was epic, and after 18 years, I achieved my first inshore Grand Slam.

For that, I am truly grateful."

My second trip with Zach was an amazing adventure to Costa Rica.

To the southern tip, close to the Panamanian border, we eight enjoyed a Tarpon fishery unlike any I have ever experienced.

Awakened to the call of howler monkeys and toucans,  every day seemed to surpass the last.

I have caught Tarpon before, but never in the numbers nor the rapidity. I literally had to take a moment to regain my strength before making another presentation, as every moment the fly was wet was an invitation to another battle.

I landed seven Tarpon that week with a new personal best of 140. That trip will forever live in my dreams.

Thank you truly Zach."
